Lock up the streets and houses Cos there's something in the air

And there definitely seems to be something in the air today.

It's weird. People who normally don't talk to me at all have been coming up and talking about my head (I re-shaved my head on the weekend). One lady, who I haven't said more than three words to in three years, was almost giddy, "Someone got a haircut!" Another lady, who seems a little grumpy but is really very nice but shy, looked up from her book when I was talking to the person sitting beside her: "I like that look on you," she said.

"Um, thanks," I stammered out, surprised for the second time today that I was being spoken to.

Your new hair cut has pushed you over the edge into full on hotness. Get ready for all the free stuff you're going to get for being pretty (man pretty of course, not girl pretty).

That's what I'm banking on: free stuff!

just admit that you're a sassy, sassy man, and move on. I want none of this false modesty!

pretty in a girly way is more accurate.

(heh heh)

hey guys back off, Mike is self-conscious about his prettiness. (didn't you tell me about your "girl hands" once Mike?)

In confidence!

And "girlie hands" in no way suggest prettiness. I know plenty of ugly girls (no one here mind you).

how is "(man pretty of course, not girl pretty)" a dichotomy of any sort of gender-equality? or is it not supposed to be?

Dave said...

Males and females equal? lol.

What universe do you live in?

Taking advantage of the pretty privilege, are we? So much for all your noble thoughts on the injustice of that.

SNM, I have NOT gotten ANYTHING for free because of my shaved head.

nono.
man vs woman
male vs female
boy vs girl
guy vs gal
dude vs chick

but how does man vs girl make sense?

Pretty in the way a man is pretty, as opposed to pretty in the way a girl is pretty. It's a gender AND age difference.

Mike is here

Boy - Girl <- Furthest from Mike

Also, 'boys' and 'girls' would be the more casual ways to refer to the general public, but individual men can feel somewhat emasculated if referred to as 'boys'. So it makes sense to upgrade 'boy' to 'man' when speaking to a particular man, especially when one is using the term to soothe his manly ego in the first place.

this blog is getting to englishy for me. I'm feeling unsmart because I don't know what the crap you guys are talking about. Well, if anyone wants to talk about how dextromethorphan undergoes O-demethylation in vivo to form dextrophan which can bind at the NMDA PCP and has weak affinity for the sigma site, then lemme know. Anyone?

Too englishy? This thread is all about making fun of me. Surely you can do that. You've managed before.

Roslyn that was so slick

Do it again :)
